The 2021 and newer Range Rover Sport is a luxury SUV known for its blend of on-road performance, off-road capability, and upscale cabin. For 2021, it introduced a new plug-in hybrid powertrain and replaced the previous supercharged V6 engine with a new mild-hybrid inline-six.

 

Powertrain options

  • Plug-in Hybrid Inline-6, P400e (398 hp, 472 lb-ft from gas and electric combined).
  • TurboDiesel V6, D250 (254 hp, 443 lb-ft) (rated at 22/28 mpg).
  • Supercharged V8, P525 (518 hp, 461 lb-ft) and SVR (575 hp for the SVR (5.0L-T-5.0L R-T)) with (15/20 mpg).

 

Trim levels

 

The 2021 Range Rover Sport was available in five main trim levels: SE, HSE, HST, Autobiography, and SVR. These trims offered varying levels of luxury and performance features, including different engine options, seating adjustments, infotainment upgrades, and exterior styling cues. The base SE trim was well-equipped, while the SVR trim focused on maximum performance.

 

Interior and technology

 

The cabin was appointed in materials and provided a quiet environment. It came standard with five seats, and a small, optional (third) row was available (on most trims, Standard technology included the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with dual 10-inch screens, a standard satellite radio, and a navigation system with real-time traffic. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard on all trims.

 

Driving experience and safety

 

The 2021 Range Rover Sport offered a powerful on-road driving experience. It maintained Land Rover's off-road capability with features like the Terrain Response system. Standard safety features included emergency braking, lane keep assist, and traffic sign recognition.

 

Key considerations

 

The vehicle has reported reliability issues, particularly with electrical components, the infotainment system, and the air suspension. Though others had positive experiences. The vehicle is also known for high maintenance and repair costs. However, it offers a combination of power, luxury, off-road, and a commanding presence thanks to a sleek exterior and technology.
